PowerDVD 7 is an award winning software that takes care of your entire DVD playing needs. Its superior audio and video quality makes movie watching a memorable experience. Its Dolby digital technology allows you to have crystal clear sound, enhancing your experience. This piece of software is enough to shake your walls and the neighborhood with the right kind of speaker system attached to your PC. It can be proud of unsurpassed video quality with second generation dynamic video technology which gives you videos with more luminance and natural color. Also its frame by frame analysis produces smooth DVD playback. It supports both 4:3 and 16: 9 DVD content and optimizes the display for your monitor in full screen mode. Its virtual surround sound gives you unmatched surround sound experience. Some of its other features are: Parental Controls (with different levels), Dual Subtitles, closed captioning support, angle switching, and Video Bookmarks. It gives you 5 viewing modes: Dock - this mode resizes the panel and fits it to the bottom of screen; Taskbar - this one allows you access to controls via icon on taskbar; Mini - it is the space-saving design, Full screen - just like any other full screen mode; and Control panel - it has translucent floating panel. You can also take snapshots of any frame. It has a new feature 'See - It - All', that speeds up and completes movie playback, just for those outdoor trips where you have limited battery power.
However, it has a complex menu which is difficult to understand for new users of PowerDVD. Also if the selected movie file can't be played using PowerDVD, it won't give you any error message and thus will leave you guessing whether the format is compatible or not. Also if you are wondering about its low rating, it is because its very expensive for the limited number of supported formats it offers, even though when it gives such good audio and video quality.
All in all, if you need software to play your DVDs, then try this one; or else, with the vast range of good free media players, this one can be given a pass.
